Method for capturing and decontaminating a gaseous medium in the presence of a monolith comprising TiO2 and silica
Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for treating a gas feed contg. mol. oxygen, such as air, and contg. one or more volatile org. compds., said method comprising the following steps: (a) bringing said gas feed contg. mol. oxygen and one or more volatile org. compds. into contact with a monolith comprising silica and titanium dioxide, said monolith comprising a type-I macropore vol., of which the diam. of the pores is greater than 50 nm and less than or equal to 1000 nm, of between from 0.1 to 3 mL/g, and a type-II macropore vol., of which the diam. of the pores is greater than 1 μm and less than or equal to 10 μm, of between from 1 to 8 mL/g; (b) irradiating said monolith with at least one irradn. source producing at least one wavelength lower than 400 nm in order to convert said volatile org. compds. into carbon dioxide, said step (b) being carried out at a temp. between -30 °C and +200 °C and at a pressure between 0.01 MPa and 70 MPa.
