Selective recognition of acetylcholine over choline by a fluorescent cage

Abstract : A fluorescent hemicryptophane has been synthesized and can beused as a turn on receptor of acetylcholine. A binding constant of2.4 × 104M−1was measured for this neurotransmitter, and itsselective and sensitive detection over choline and choline phos-phate was achieved. NMR and DFT calculations provide insight intothe interactions involved in this selective recognition process
