Expertext Approach and Learning Environments

This article presents an approach that aims at providing an Expertext environment for the design and the consultation of responsive documents. The paper focuses especially on knowledge representation and the exploitation of this type of document. This approach goes beyond the framework of the traditional hypertext and requires the implementation of an assistance mechanism for the user. First, these works have envisaged principles and techniques of the ICAL domain to design an Expertext model. Then, we considered that it was an interesting application area for Expertext environments. This is why we discuss perspectives for the development of learning environment and we give an application example. \textcopyright Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 1996.
