Containment chamber and method for measuring the impact of bacteria on interfaces between two immiscible fluids.

Résumé

The invention proposes a containment chamber (10) for taking measurements relative to the impact of bacteria on interfaces between two immiscible fluids. The chamber comprises a receiving vol. (12) suitable for contg. a first fluid, a sealed needle insertion system (24) for sealingly inserting a needle into the chamber and forming a drop of a second fluid in the receiving vol., a transparent window (14) aligned with the receiving vol. and suitable for observing an interface between the first fluid and the drop of the second fluid, and a system for controlling gas present in the chamber. The chamber can be used for improving the taking of measurements relative to the impact of bacteria on interfaces between two immiscible fluids. The chamber, as shown in figures, was used to measure the impact of different anaerobic bacteria on hexadecane-water interfaces. There was a decrease in the interfacial tension at the interface in the presence of the tested bacteria. The speed of the modification was different among the bacteria tested.
