Photons in, energy out: At the Solar'08 international conference (February 24-28, 2008), 120 scientists from 41 countries gathered to discuss the field of photochemistry, ranging from fundamental photophysical properties of systerns to their applications. S. Lacombe presented work on silica xerogel monoliths (see figure) which efficiently produce singlet oxygen when irradiated under visible light. © 2008 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
